VW Jetta WVO
"I found my VW on E-bay. I had bid on a few others but was out bid- my Jetta had a buy now price of $1995- I snapped it up!
I live near Bruno, MN (50 miles south of Duluth), though the car was in York, PA.
It was only $150 & 33-34 hours by Greyhound. I was still layed-off from work so no problem. It was everything the seller claimed, but without the rust we have in such abundance here in MN! I got 47 MPG on the 1350 mile trip back. I could hardly wait to get back to work to afford the conversion to WVO!
My mom thought I was nuts for messing with a car that gets such excellent fuel mileage. I think she was driving a Cadillac at the time.... 5 weeks after I bought the car (Memorial Day weekend), I had the car running on straight vegetable oil! Everything I needed for the conversion was on the Web"
Wanted: WVO car in Wisconsin/Ilinois
I'm looking to purchase a converted two-tank WVO car. I'm in Madison, WI but am willing to travel up to 200 miles for the right car.
Prefer VW and Mercedes, but open to all. The newer and fewer miles the better, but I am open to well-maintained older vehicles. Prefer WVO-converted but willing to look at diesels for future conversion.
Please drop me a line at shaneface[at]yahoo[dot]com
Thanks!
put a turbo on an 82 VW Vanagon Diesel
I have an 82 vanagon camper with a 1.9 jetta diesel engine installed by the previous owner. I bought it from him in Colorado and the Colorado mechanic recommended putting a turbo on it to give it more horsepower and gas efficiency. However I cant find anyone in TX to do it, well at least in the Dallas area. So i was wondering if anyone knew how to do it or knew anyone in Texas or close to Texas that would do it.

AS SEEN ON TV! 2001 VW Jetta TDI Diesel Greasecar WVO
Check out my auction at ebay.com! Item # 120485151973
AS SEEN ON TV! You are bidding on on one of the most famous alternative fuel vehicles since Doc Brown's DeLorean from Back to the Future!
Featured on Good Morning America, CNBC, MSNBC, and Wall Street Journal Report, this 2001 VW Jetta TDI has been evangelizing the use of alternative fuels for years.
Beat high gas prices and DRIVE FOR FREE using waste vegetable oil! Professionally converted by Smarter Fuel using the Greasecar kit, the WVO system works perfectly.
This vehicle starts every time and runs very well. I installed a FrostHeater brand block heater for easy cold weather starts. Just plug it in (I set it on a timer) and the engine turns over immediately. It also enables you to make the switch to veggie oil sooner and helps you get heat inside the car much quicker.
As the pictures show, the car is very clean for a vehicle with almost 158,000 miles and has no major issues. I drove this car over 100 miles a day for years. The turbocharger was replaced with an OEM unit at 144,000 miles. The starter was replaced at 137,000 and the glow plug relay at 121,000.
VW diesels are legendary for going forever, and this car is still going strong. But obviously a car with with high mileage like this is going to have a few blemishes, and I've tried to capture them in the pictures. You probably won't notice them while you're DRIVING FOR FREE on used vegetable oil! The clearcoat has peeled off the tops of the mirrors. The headlight lenses are a bit cloudy. The chrome cap on one of the headlights has popped off and is laying inside the headlight housing. There are a few scuffs and scratches and a small rust spot on the edge of one wheel-well. The lid on the center armrest is detached, but I have a replacement unit. It just needs to be installed. Did I mention you can DRIVE FOR FREE on used vegetable oil?
1999 VW Beetle TDI Greasecar for sale
140,000 miles. 5-speed. TDI diesel, not sold in the U.S. Bright blue. Gets above 40 mph on either regular diesel, biodiesel, or used, FREE (filtered) cooking oil. Extra stainless steel tank for used grease/oil was installed in trunk (spare tire well) by the previous owner, an engineer, who then used the car daily for 2 years, running it mainly on grease. We installed a temperature sensor that indicates when the engine is warm enough to switch to grease, as well as a "grease gauge" so you can see how much you have left. Switch-over between diesel and grease (and vice-versa) is at the flick of a switch, while driving. We have run this car for thousands of miles without paying a penny for fuel (note: you must use diesel from the regular tank when starting the car and until it reaches the grease-running temperature).
The car is registered, inspected. The body is in good shape, no accidents, and it has been running well, but now NEEDS A CLUTCH. A/C does not work. Am/FM radio and CD player: works well but tuning mechanism is damaged, making tuning difficult, and this needs repair. A number of the seat-adjustment handles have broken and need to be replaced. Maybe needs shocks? Tires are good. We also include the filtering system for used grease and an instruction manual, as well as many plastic containers you can use for storage of used vegetable oil.

wvo valves
Did your old plastic Pollak fuel tank selector valve stop working, i.e., leaking, sticking--the plastic gears stripping?
This is what the inside of your Pollack valve looks like.

It may be time to upgrade your WVO/SVO or biodiesel tank valve!
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa230/omarsales/valv...
We have been running road tests on this aluminum bodied, 3-port WVO/SVO 12-volt fuel tank selector valve (also available in 24-volt) with easily-replaceable Viton seals. It has 12-mm ports with 1/2 inch NPT threads, a maximum operating temperature of 212° F, it is a bubble-tight valve (which means it is not going to leak like some of the other valves used for WVO) and it even has a small red light that tells you when you have switched to WVO! We have run this valve in VWs, Mercedes, and larger pickup trucks with good results.
For those who are interested, email me for a flowchart of the valves’ performance.
Other details you may want to know:
Max operating pressure: 1 MPa (10 bar) = 145 psi
It will take two 3-port valves to replace one 6-port valve.
we also have 24-volt wvo valves!
anyway we have them in stock!

Greasecar kit, 2005 VW Jetta
My friends just purchased a greasecar kit for a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta. Trouble is he lost his manual in a behemoth pile of whopper wrappers and well-used girly mags (just kidding really) and he cannot seem to figure out how to find information on wiring; just the wiring of his vehicle. Does anyone have a schematic or diagrahm or .pdf or scanned immage for the wiring procedure of the old-fashioned controll model (the two button pannel)? He doesn't wish to spend another $50 on a manual as that would buy at least two dozen more whoppers and another magazine... if so my email adress is Jonpmerchant@msn.com thank you SO much if anyone can help.

Diesel Engine Swap into VW Bus for WVO
Has anyone heard of putting a diesel engine into one of the older model vw buses? Not the vanagon or the eurovan, but a classic vw bus?
I was thinking a rabbit diesel might fit into to, cause they're both small, but it would be a nice way to burn clean and in style. :)

Peter's Vegetable Oil Powered Car Conversion Log
"The following account documents my experiences in converting my 1979 VW Rabbit Diesel to run off straight vegetable oil (SVO). Modifications to the car, including tank construction; hose routing; interfacing to the car's fuel, cooling, and electrical systems, are covered as well as inclusion of parts lists, where applicable; a description of the construction of a grease collection/filtering system; and problems that I encountered after the initial installation."

How I Taught My Diesel To Drink Veggie Oil and Love It
"While my VW TDI is the best vehicle I have ever owned, I despise the fact that it requires fossil fuel that pollutes the environment and increases our need to maintain unsavory relationships with foreign governments. I look forward to the day that I drive an electric car (solar charged, of course), but for now, my transportation choices are limited.
That's why last Sunday, against what most folks would say was sane reasoning, I stood in front of my beloved 2001 Golf and cut the fuel lines in half.
And I did it with a smile on my face.
