1985 Mercedes 300 SDL Turbo Diesel – WVO ready! - $9000 - Charlotte NC

Tags: links inline

This black ‘land shark’ will run on wvo, svo, biodiesel or diesel. An ‘electric fuel preheater/spin-on-filter unit’ allows for a one tank system that keeps things simple for the driver. Put in ‘clean’ oil and go!

This classic turbo diesel runs great! My mechanic completely serviced the engine and AC. All fuel lines, hose and break lines and drive belts are new. The gas tank was removed and cleaned. Power sunroof, tinted windows and seats work smoothly. WVO conversion, upgrades and service receipts total $3600.

It has been driven over 3000 miles on 150 gallons of wvo. I have made several filter changes. It can be done in 15 minutes and the filters cost around fifteen dollars. I will include one extra fuel filter and fifty gallons clean wvo for the next driver!

Serious grease car inquiries only! - $9000.00

coolant tank on converted 300td

Tags: links inline

Hi,

I just bought an already-converted two tank Mercedes 300td. It's overheating, and when I went to check my coolant level, I idiotically couldn't find the tank. I'm very new to cars in general, but I swear the tank is not where it should be..

Thanks!

Help! Beginner planning a WVO conversion

Tags: links inline

I'm a beginner at conversions and cars in general, but I'm looking to convert a car to diesel as sort of a summer project. I turn 15 this summer and get my permit and I really wanted to skip the whole $3.25 / gallon of gas/diesel deal and go straight to W.V.O. I have my parents permission to do this conversion as long as if it doesn't work out i have to pay the diesel prices. I have several questions/concerns that i need to have answered before i begin this:

1. What car is the best for conversions? Mercedes?? (not SUV or Truck)
2. Should I get a kit or is it easier from scratch?
3. Whats the deal with high mileage? in other words: How many mile will a diesel engine run?
4. What are the most important things to remember when I'm buying the car?
5. What are the most important things to remember when I'm converting the car?
6....

and anything else that I need to know before I begin.

Thanks.

1982 Mercedes 300td diesel sedan nice body good. Houston, Texas

A fine example of the venerable 123 Chassis Mercedes diesel Sedan with the om617 five cylinder turbo diesel that is green fuel fiendly. These engines routinely give in excess of 500,000 miles. The body is straight, no rust, and still shows the clear coat(tree shadow on car in photo). Interior is presentable
Recently replaced the right rear axle and brake pads and caliper on all 4 wheels. Good tires. Strong runner. Smooth tranny. Low miles 98K. Maintenance records. Becker radio. Texas car. Third Owner.
I have been running my other diesels on vegetable oil(wvo) for five years and can set you up to do the same. The savings are fantastic!. Email for photos please.

Which is best WVO tank for Mercedes wagon?

Tags: links inline

I want to convert my 1987 Mercedes 300TDT diesel wagon to run WVO using a two-tank system, but I don't want to sacrifice the space in the rear of my station wagon. I'd like to install a WVO tank in either the spare wheel well or in the space occupied by the folding third seat (the space should fit a 14 gallon tank). Is anyone aware of a WVO tank in the shape of a either 1) spare tire but works in the vertical position or 2) a tank that could fit in the space used for the third seat cushion(approx. 34 inches x 14 inches x 7 inches)? thanks

I can't get my water pump to circulate

I have a Mercedes 300SD that I am in the middle of a conversion on. We have the radiant heat system installed with the hose within a hose set-up. My WVO tank in in the trunk. For some reason the hot coolant is not circulating back to the tank. There are no kinks or other obvious blockages.

Anybody got any ideas?

Power loss in 300d using WVO

Tags: links inline

Trying to find out why my 300d loses power after it has been running for a few hours on highway traffic. Have been adding WVO directly to the tank this summer, maybe not well filtered, but have drained the tank and have been running on pure diesel for a half tank when it happened again. Have replaced fuel filter and while there was clearly some carbon bits from the fryer oil, it wasn't too bad. Thought maybe the lift pump, or possibly injectors are fouled, but once the car cools, it seems to run okay again.
Anyone had a simialr experinece?

"Here are some pictures of my dad's 300 SD that we converted. We started working on it Monday, and by Sunday we were on vegoil. I worked during the week, and dad would pick up bits & pieces during the day. Our timing for the project was a little off,mit turned out to be an incredibly busy week at work, and I had to work late a few times. At night we'd plug away making heat exchanger, tank etc... Big push was on by Friday... By Friday night we had everything wired and mapped out. Also had heat exchanger completed and had begun to run fuel lines. By Saturday night we had fuel lines run to front of car to engine compartment, and Pollack valve installed with all diesel lines. On sunday we finished our cuts into the cooling system, installed the tank, installed the fuel pump, double and triple checked everything. At about 8 PM we flipped the switch."

Conversion of Mercedes 307 Van to Vegetable Oil

Tags: links inline

"Vegetable oil fuel tank being built. The internal pipe-work can heat solid palm oil for burning in the engine. Vegetable oil has to be heated to about 80 degrees C to attain similar viscosities to everyday road diesel. Once this temp has been achieved the fuel tanks can be switched over from normal diesel to vegetable oil."

"This section of the web is dedicated to posting my experience with converting my Mercedes 350 SDL to run on Waste Vegetable Oil.

I am also expanding it to cove all things Waste Vegetable Oil.

I hope it is of interest to those who think this is as funny as I do, especially those who are planning a similar conversion to their own car. I had no resource like the one hope to build here, and thought I could give back the the community by documenting and posting my conversion experience for the benefit of others.

Because I used the Frybrid system, there may be some intellectual infringement issues that I hope I do not break. If so, I will have to remove this site. In the meantime, please just be aware that Frybrid makes the best, most expensive components currently available for WVO conversion. You would probably be compromising using any other technology."

Veggie Mercedes 300SD Conversion

"In April, my good long friend Bovie turned me on to a new idea that is making a movement into becoming free from the oil economy we're living in--Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) in cars. I vowed to never pay over $2.00/gal for gas back in 2003, and had to reclutantly eat my words. Well I said it again for $3.00/gal back in Sept 2005, managing to pay 2.72 at the highest peak. Well this time, no Katrina, no opec, just the plain facts that as long as people demand oil, the companies providing it will jack up thier prices. In April I noticed that 3.00/gal was coming back soon, and I really did not want to eat my words again. So Thanks to bovie, and the guys over at http://www.greaseon.com/ , I started the search. [...]

So there ya go. I'm now %98 free from the oil economy. Sure every 3000miles or so I need to use some petrol-oil for my car, but every day driving is now free. or at least more free than it was before. And within 10-12 months (perhaps less if I go on road trips this summer) it will have paid itself off financially. Not to mention I now know how to work on my 300SD!"

Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) Conversion on a 92 Mercedes 300D

"This website provides conversion details for a specific car and specific conversion kit. It is meant to supplement the Greasecar.com instructions. There are also some links to good general information about conversions. This conversion information should work for a 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 Mercedes 300D. I decided to do a 15 gallon square tank in the trunk. This is so I can keep the spare tire. I converted this car while I had a second car and then sold the other car. You could do the conversion while it's your only car if you plan really well and do it in stages and on weekends."
