FOR SALE: 1985 Mercedes 300TD with WVO kit installed!

Model 300TD - Turbo Diesel with veggie oil fuel kit (WVO). This is a solid example of 1985 Mercedes Diesel with a Greasel (now http://goldenfuelsystems.com) kit installed. The car runs well and saves a ton of $$$ on diesel fuel. Just collect and filter restaurant fry oil and put it into the tank in the trunk – almost free fuel (you have to buy the filters).

The odometer says 219K, but only works intermittently, so actual mileage is unknown, but probably under 300K. These old Benz diesels are used as taxi-cabs all over the world and have been known to go 500K miles.

The following work has been done in the last couple years: front suspension, rear shocks, motor mounts and front brakes. The car runs well and will easily do 75 on the highway, but does have a cracked windshield that should be replaced. There is some surface rust on the rear wheel wells, but it is fixable. I hate to sell the old girl - she's been very reliable - but, I purchased a 1998 Benz diesel and no longer need the old one.

Give me a call if you’d like to see the car in Downers Grove, Illinois near 88 and 355.

WVO Howto: Burning WVO Waste Vegetable Oil in Diesel Vehicles Mercedes Benz

"I'm sure you've seen on TV people burning Waste Vegetable Oil in their cars. well it's true and it's relatively simple and very inexpensive. Allot of WVO users simply mix a little regular gasoline (10-20%) to thin out the Oil, and others just run plain vegetable oil without any modifications an dno mixing of RUG. Others buy expensive kits , while others design and build their own kits.

Some diesels run better than others on WVO. Some you shouldn't try it at all. How can you tell if your vehicle is a candidate for running on WVO? Basically the older diesels are better candidates for burning WVO." Read the Mercedes Benz WVO Howto Guide.

Mercedes 240D Conversion

"Its been a long week. But many projects have been completed. Most importantly a couple days ago we finished converting my uncles 240D 4Spd. It now has a two tank system using his stock tank as the grease tank with a 6 gallon fuel cell in the trunk for diesel. The system cost was fairly low considering time forced us to buy quite a few expensive fittings that we could have found much cheaper if we had the time. Here is brief system overview:"

Jake's 300SD Conversion Pics

"Here are some pictures of my dad's 300 SD that we converted. We started working on it Monday, and by Sunday we were on vegoil. I worked during the week, and dad would pick up bits & pieces during the day. Our timing for the project was a little off,mit turned out to be an incredibly busy week at work, and I had to work late a few times. At night we'd plug away making heat exchanger, tank etc... Big push was on by Friday... By Friday night we had everything wired and mapped out. Also had heat exchanger completed and had begun to run fuel lines. By Saturday night we had fuel lines run to front of car to engine compartment, and Pollack valve installed with all diesel lines. On sunday we finished our cuts into the cooling system, installed the tank, installed the fuel pump, double and triple checked everything. At about 8 PM we flipped the switch."
