For Sale: 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300D TurboDiesel
Hi folks,
I'm selling a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 300D TurboDiesel (2.5 L engine). I bought this car a year and a half ago to run on biodiesel, but family issues have caused me to ditch those plans and sell the car. I bought it in a suburb of Philadelphia and promptly drove it all the way home to St. Louis with no problems whatsoever. The car only has 99,xxx original miles and will probably last for hundreds of thousands more. It is also in excellent physical condition for its age. It is white with only minor scratches and dings. Nothing is missing, absolutely no rust, etc. The paint still looks great, too. The dark blue interior is immaculate... no cracks in the dash, seats, etc. All are in very good condition. Sunroof works great and does not leak. I added a new Alpine MP3 stereo system that can connect your iPhone, iPod, or other USB device. Like most of the 300Ds, this one gets great gas mileage... upper 20s in the city and around 35 mpg on the highway. Once again, it was never converted for vegoil or made ready for biodiesel, but that's easy enough to do for anyone interested. It's rare to see one of these cars with this low mileage and in this great shape, so I don't expect it to be on the market long, and I would love for someone interested in biodiesel and/or SVO to get it. The car is centrally located in St. Louis, Missouri.
I'm asking $6,000 obo.
Please contact me at kopper65 (at) gmail.com or call and leave me a message at (314) 266-8472.
Thanks,
Jeff Kopp

wvo valves
Did your old plastic Pollak fuel tank selector valve stop working, i.e., leaking, sticking--the plastic gears stripping?
This is what the inside of your Pollack valve looks like.

It may be time to upgrade your WVO/SVO or biodiesel tank valve!
http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/aa230/omarsales/valvejpg.jpg
We have been running road tests on this aluminum bodied, 3-port WVO/SVO 12-volt fuel tank selector valve (also available in 24-volt) with easily-replaceable Viton seals. It has 12-mm ports with 1/2 inch NPT threads, a maximum operating temperature of 212° F, it is a bubble-tight valve (which means it is not going to leak like some of the other valves used for WVO) and it even has a small red light that tells you when you have switched to WVO! We have run this valve in VWs, Mercedes, and larger pickup trucks with good results.
For those who are interested, email me for a flowchart of the valves’ performance.
Other details you may want to know:
Max operating pressure: 1 MPa (10 bar) = 145 psi
It will take two 3-port valves to replace one 6-port valve.
we also have 24-volt wvo valves!
anyway we have them in stock!

1985 Mercedes 300D for sale
This car has been very well taken care of and is in great condition.
It has spent most of it's life in the desert of New Mexico and is completely rust-free.
I have the dealer maintenance books which have all the warranty work recorded for the first 125k miles.
Runs very well, drives smoothly,Excellent paint and body, no dents or scratches.
There are only minor signs of age, such as a couple auto windows not working, some cracks in the leather and trim, etc.
It has a new water pump and steering lock, replaced by me. These were the only things that wore out after 3 years of my driving.

Greasecar installation manual for '91 300D
folk,
i bought an older used Greasecar system that came out of VW Jettta. I plan to install it in my '91 MB 300D.
i contacted Greasecar to buy the installation manual, they will not sell it to me since i am not the original owner.
does anyone on this list have a copy of the installation manual and will be willing to send me a soft copy?
again, the car is 91 300D.
thanks

"On this Blog you'll be able to follow my progress on the conversion of a 1976 model W123 Mercedes to run on unmodified vegetable oil (UVO), or waste vegetable oil (WVO). I'll post stuff and upload some pics to show you how to do this yourself on your own vehicle :) [...]
Why a 300D Benz?
The W123 model Mercedes Benz is widely considered as the most bullet-proof and reliable Benz models ever made. Around the world, stories of these cars reaching 500,000km are commonplace. A million km on the clock hardly raises an eyebrow. All W123s are a tribute to Mercedes Benz engineering, and their diesel engines in particular, are legendary."
Mercedes 300D conversion
"This my first post here in this great forums. I'd like to share with you the steps of the conversion a mercedes 300D 1981.
The whole idea started when I joined the OZBENZ forums where I met Tony and Bruce. They have offered to be at help for not only me but anyone wanting to become a SVO used.
I bought the following parts for the conversion ...
20 Plate Heat exchanger -eBay/Tony.
CAV filter - eBay.
Pollak fuel valve eBay.
Brackets, aluminium angle and bolts - Bunnings warehouse.
Blumbing fittings - ENZED
Still more but not much to buy
Here is a photo of things so far."

I can't get my water pump to circulate
I have a Mercedes 300SD that I am in the middle of a conversion on. We have the radiant heat system installed with the hose within a hose set-up. My WVO tank in in the trunk. For some reason the hot coolant is not circulating back to the tank. There are no kinks or other obvious blockages.
Anybody got any ideas?
Hello, Sucking air
Hi all. This is a cool website. Drupal rocks. Our website, http://www.nashvillebiodiesel.org , is drupal powered.
My two tank system is somehow sucking air. When i floor it going up a hill, It will die sometimes. It happens on both sides of the switching valve. So it must be after the valve. I tightened every hose clamp on a fuel line i could. I replaced the primer pump with a new one of the new type. It did not help, it started leaking while pumping the first use, and it will not suck through the filter hardly at all and is virtually worthless. I was wondering if this could be the lift pump going out on me ? My next move is to put a bottle of fuel under hood for a tank and see what happens. If i still have the problem, what could it be ?
cheers,
biopete
Power loss in 300d using WVO
Trying to find out why my 300d loses power after it has been running for a few hours on highway traffic. Have been adding WVO directly to the tank this summer, maybe not well filtered, but have drained the tank and have been running on pure diesel for a half tank when it happened again. Have replaced fuel filter and while there was clearly some carbon bits from the fryer oil, it wasn't too bad. Thought maybe the lift pump, or possibly injectors are fouled, but once the car cools, it seems to run okay again.
Anyone had a simialr experinece?
1985 300D SVO Daily Driver
"Here I am with my lovely 1985 300d SVO Daily Driver. I got a lot of help for this project from the owner of Greasel.com who was very friendly and extremely helpful. I used the fuel return loop instead of the normal Fuel return."
Waste Vegetable Oil (WVO) Conversion on a 92 Mercedes 300D
"This website provides conversion details for a specific car and specific conversion kit. It is meant to supplement the Greasecar.com instructions. There are also some links to good general information about conversions. This conversion information should work for a 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993 Mercedes 300D. I decided to do a 15 gallon square tank in the trunk. This is so I can keep the spare tire. I converted this car while I had a second car and then sold the other car. You could do the conversion while it's your only car if you plan really well and do it in stages and on weekends."
