1975 240 conversion

I am new to the WVO thing but always liked the look of old mercedes and the idea of using a waste product for fuel is great. So I bought a 75 240 and am worried that I can not do the conversion- that is to say a newer model would be better.

Why? How would I convert this one. I live in Vegas so it is really hot here.
