Need wvo from Houston to LA

Im looking to make a trip to LA from Houston maybe around the middle of January. I want to set up points along the way that I can pick up fuel. I have a trailer and can bring it if I need to but how awsome would it be to find great places to stop along the way. I would love to find free or inexpensive oil that has been filtered already just to save time. I am going to see family and would like to spend as much time there and not on the road as I can.
