3 Tank WVO System Howto Research
"I need some tips on making a 3 tank sytem work. Most things I have read here involve letting the oil settle and heating/filtering it. Is this possible while driving, if I have a seperate dirty tank?
I want to use standard types of filters as I will be travelling in mexico and want something very common in older busses and trucks. How many filters and what types will I need? Is it possible to use hydraulic filters?
I am thinking of using the coolant hoses to heat the tanks, possibly along with an electric heater. Do I have to cut open my tanks, or is it possible to feed the hoses in?
I am also looking at putting my veggie oil line inside the coolant line that heats the tank. Does anyone know where I can find the fittings for this?
As for WVO collection, what type of pump is best/cheapest? Do I really need to shell out $200-$300. And does anyone have experience collecting WVO in cold climes? I would assume some sort of heated tip is necessary. I have a heater element that may work, I'm just wondering if anyone has done this. [...]
First do a search of this forum on various topics such as:
. your engine type
. wand and/or Spear. Both are terms used about heated suction tubes for emersing in thick cold WVO
. sucker and/or collection
. dewater
. Diesel Craft or is it dieselcraft
This should give you a good start [...]
You can't settle while driving, but you could centrifuge it. Search on centrifuge, and hose in hose or HiH, fill-rite pump I like best for collection $150. Fittings are at http://www.mcmaster.com/"

3 tank system
3 tanks really wouldn't work. Dirty oil placed in a barrel in your garage and left for a week or so will clean up because all the dirty bad stuff settles to the bottom. A third tank in your vechile might work if you don't move the vechile for a week. There are systems that let u fill up anywhere but these installs run to 2000 dollars or more. Filtering veg oil in your garage is also very time consuming using gravity filtering systems. A centrifuge filtering system in your garage will let u filter bad oil at a rate of 20 gal. per hour, give or take. Some peeps use a multi-stage filtering system in the vehicle, a 200 micron then a 70 micron then a 10 micron/water filtering system. These filters range in price from 70 to 300 or more. Having clean oil to burn is essential.
